June 2010
Below
are some of the comments from those who attended the Re-Union
Dear
Ted, Norah, Greg, James & Bulls Committee, Re: 30 Year Re-Union 10-13th
June 2010 Just a short note to thank you again for approaching us in
regard to sponsorship and we are delighted your committee allowed us
the opportunity, involvement and exposure that we are truly grateful
for. We are ecstatic about the past four days! You did not leave a stone
unturned! Everything was outstanding! I know and appreciate how much
behind the scenes work is involved in running such a successful event
as this and I am sure you are all exhausted. It was great to catch up
with old friends and meet new ones. One of the many highlights for me
was playing rugby with my son Matthew and friends and the Sunday Brunch!
On Sunday morning listening to all those wonderful impromptu speeches
was very emotional and moving especially Greg Smith's and James Doyle's
and combined with that great feeling of after match pain and soreness
that only a rugby player appreciates, could not have wound up the re-union
for me at any higher point. If we are about for the 40 year re-union
we would like you to consider us to be a Re-Sponsor-Bull! Congratulations
again for the opportunity as a sponsor and on conducting a wonderful
Bulls 30 year re-union! Take care. Kind Regards Jim & Judy Geaney
Well
done Norah and all. We had a great time. Fabulous organisation and great
company. Sherri and Andrew Paxton-Hall
Norah, Congratulations to you and the committee and all who played a
role in the reunion. It was fantastic! It was great catching up with
people some of whom I haven't seen for 30 years. They are greyer and
some are .......bigger, but still the same old wags! I really was cranky
at missing Saturday due to the wedding and (final assignment committments!)
but I know it would have been great too. Well done again and see you
in 2020, probably in my wheelchair by then! Kind
Regards Roger Landsberg
Dear
Committee members Thank you for the opportunity to be involved with
such a committed group. Rugby in Charters Towers is in good hands. We
have heard all the superlatives, but I could never have dreamt that
the originals would be honoured in such grand style. The effort in encouraging
so many to attend really made the weekend. We were all accorded due
accolades for our efforts in starting a fledgling club in the face of
much scepticism from the wider Charters Towers Community. (As mentioned
by Jim and Warren in their speeches.) We proved the critics wrong and
this is evident in the success and skill level of all the junior teams.
The QRU and TDRU should be doing everything in its power to foster this
development because Charters Towers will not only prosper as a rugby
centre but also produce Reds or even Wallaby players. Jim Geaney's involvement
put the icing on the cake especially making his utility available to
carry the old hasbeenabulls around the oval. This made us all feel contentabull.
Many thanks from Harriet and myself. Please keep the stories (For the
book) rolling in Kind regards Peter
Hulthen
Hi
Norah - I want to congratulate you and your committee for what was a
truly great weekend, and to thank you all for your wonderful hospitality.
The whole thing was an eye-opener from go to whoa: the Ball was a gem,
and the 'Running of the Bulls' on Saturday left me gob-smacked. All
those kids running around playing great Rugby made me feel both very
humble and totally thrilled - and there wasn't a single unsavoury incident,
which speaks volumes for the standards imbued by the coaches! All I
can say is 'WELL DONE ALL', and my heartfelt thanks to all! Bob Armstrong
I
had a FANTASTIC weekend. i have not laughed so much for so long in a
very long time. Thanks for all your efforts. Everyone I spoke to had
a great time. Debby Smith
Hi Norah No doubt this week has been a little quieter for you!! I just
wanted to drop you a line to say what an outstanding job you (and the
committee) did in organising the reunion. It was enjoyed by all and
a huge success. The ball was great and we enjoyed catching up with Luke
and Melissa and Tim Magoffin as well as many others. The Arthur Titley
Centre has never looked so good - it was so beautifully decorated. Like
we said to you on the night - you should be doing this professionally!
Thanks for being so thoughtful in regard to John. It means to world
to all of us - especially Pat and Lance. It is nice to know that he
is not forgotten. The poster of him at the ball was incredible. I hope
you are enjoying a little time off after all the months of planning?
Thanks again Norah. It was really nice to see you and Ted again. Kerri
Hi
Norah and Ted, I have put some of the Photos from the reunion on my
facebook page, you are welcome to check it out. Once again Thanks for
a fantastic time, a big job done well. Dave Thomas.
Hi
Norah, Just wanted to say once again thank you heaps for making our
return to Charters Towers so wonderful. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely
and your organising was fantastic. Sadly we could not bring on a win
for Johns game but it was a pleasure to be involved. Lance and I appreciate
you giving us a peek at the hall and photos before the Ball. I hope
you were not too disappointed we didn't take Johns photo but really
none of us had a suitable place to hang it so felt it better to be in
the archives. I was thinking an idea might be to hang it before the
Trophy Night for his trophy and for the Brothers /Bulls Game. A little
aside Robert Sweeper who won the Trophy last season is the Grandson
of one of Lances cousins small world eh. It was just lovely to see yourself
and. Take care now and many Thanks a million. Cheers, Pat Fry
Hi
Norah Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you but I want to thank
you for the fantastic job you did last week-end…..and all the millions
of hours leading up to it. We had a brilliant time. We really enjoyed
catching up with people we hadn't seen for years. I am still amazed
at the level that Johnny's spirit lives on. It is lovely. Thanks too
for organizing Zoe. That worked out perfectly. Until next time…we can't
thank you enough. Love Mary-Jane
Congratulations
on the success of the recent celebrations. We would have loved to attend
the reunion as Judy and Wayne Wills said it was a great weekend. Gil
would have loved to go out as well but with a new baby and just shifted
into their new home it was impossible to get away. Cheers Lorelle &
Allan Griffiths
Greetings
Norah a quick word of appreciation and regard to you and the CT Bulls
crew for the wonderful reunion event it has been a minus 5 start to
the last days of June in Canberra...days to remind me of how much I
appreciated the temperate winter days of CT the game in heaven aside,
it was a delight to meet new CT folk in the recent past...catching up
with the many others of yesteryear also warmed the cockles of a frosty
Canberra heart Michael Traynor
Well
we have been home for a couple of weeks now and we are still talking
about our trip up north. We had a fantastic time and I had to write
to you both to say what a great job you and your team did for the reunion.
The Ball was amazing and the posters on the wall were a great touch.
It was good to see your children and how much they have grown. You have
done an even better job raising them. You should be proud of your efforts
and I'm sure you will be recognised for it in the future. I also have
add a thanks for thinking of and looking after my family over the weekend.
It was much appreciated by us all. All the best and we will talk to
you soon. Beers Jayne, Darcey, Amy and Frysie.
